Helen Tang Biomedical Visuals
Hello, I'm Helen!

I am a scientist, artist, and creative problem solver.
From a young age, I was fascinated by the natural world and enjoyed drawing what I saw. After studying biology at Brown University, I was delighted to stumble upon the field of scientific illustration, which sits at the intersection of science and art. I decided to pursue this field and received my Masters degree in Medical Illustration from the Johns Hopkins University's Art as Applied to Medicine graduate program.
My dual expertise in science and art enables me to act as a translator, bridging communication gaps that exist between teacher and student, doctor and patient, researcher and science community. Using various mediums, including illustration, writing, and animation, I transform dense scientific information into a compelling visual format that is both accurate and digestible.
I absolutely love being out in nature, especially in the ocean. My favorite pastimes include swimming, hiking, and taking pictures of flowers.
